Indian Route 6130, north of Gap Trading Post on Highway 89, at milepost 499, leads to Save the Confluence Cookout & Gathering on Sept. 23, 2023.

A Save the Confluence Cookout & Gathering is scheduled 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Wilson residence in southern Bodaway.

The event is scheduled at a fenced-in pink hogan, formerly a sheep camp the late Navajo elders called K’ehii Tiin, “Road That goes Up the Butte.” The turn off is west of Highway 89, north of Gap Trading Post at milepost 499, which turns into Indian Route 6130, a dirt road. (Signs will be available on the route to the site).

Some Navajo Nation Council delegates might attend.

The event will include food, drinks, hiking, camping and storytelling. Other activities will be announced at the gathering.
