Navajo officials said on Friday a bill that seeks a $65 million loan of the tribe to start the Escalade resort may have a hearing later this month, and online comments that were missing have been found and resubmissions have been accepted.
Navajo tribal officials said on Wednesday they counted only one-eighth of the tens of thousands of comments filed online last week opposing the proposed Escalade development.
Opponents of the Proposed Grand Canyon Escalade sent more than 32,000 online comments to the Navajo Nation Council opposing constrtruction of a gondola and a resort at the Grand Canyon Eastern Rim.
Navajo President Russell Begaye told a Flagstaff newspaper that he continues to oppose the Grand Canyon Escalade bill.
