“The war is far from over …!

“Nxt Indigenous Generation” posted the following update on Facebook about the Awareness Walk to Save the Confluence, after demonstrators walked three days from The Grand Canyon to Window Rock this week to try to stop The Escalade Project.  The Escalade is a tourism development project that would set up a tram on the eastern rim of the Grand Canyon, and take 420 acres for a visitor center. It is opposed by a large number of residents, grazing permit holders and homesite lease holders in the western Navajo Nation. Nxt was one of those who made the 211-mile walk:

“Yesterday (10/9/12) the Navajo Nation Council Chairman, through connections of Mary Martin the Grassroots Against the Confluence Resort were able to speak to the Council Delegates. Each person was given 5 minutes and they spoke with passion and hope that the Nation’s representatives would not allow the sacred site of the Confluence be developed for GREEDY PURPOSES. Duane Tsingine was called out by one member on where he stood, and why he stands with the Confluence Partners. Other Confluence Partners were called out as well and even the Bodaway/Gap Chapter Officials were brought up for their “abuse of power”. Its sounded amazing to hear what took place. The story of the issues will be in the Gallup Independent & Navajo Times. I hope they can share it on YOUTUBE or online somewhere… Keep Fighting people the Battle has just begun… but the war is far from over…!”
