The Grand Canyon Music Festival is bringing its Native American Composer Apprentice Project (NACAP) to MNA. Puhutawi, a new genre of Hopi music, is based on a series of provocative songs composed by Clark Tenakhongva in Hopi ceremonial style, re-interpreted and developed collaboratively with Trevor Reed (Hopi composer and MNA Research Associate). Tenakhongva’s songs entice the audience to listen to the environmental and spiritual forces that bring life and motion to the Grand Canyon, an homage
to their ancestral homeland.
